Matheus Martins has agreed personal terms with Dynamo Moscow, bringing the forward’s transfer from Botafogo close to completion. The Russian club accepted the counteroffer submitted by the player’s representatives, resolving the last significant obstacle in the negotiations. The deal is worth €7 million, approximately R$42.4 million at the reported exchange rate, with a four-year contract for the player. The forward is expected to travel in the coming days to complete the final formalities and sign for the Russian club. The move has not yet been officially announced. Until the contract is signed and both clubs confirm the deal, Matheus Martins remains a Botafogo player.

Counteroffer unlocks the deal

Botafogo and Dynamo Moscow had already reached an agreement last week, but the Russians’ initial salary offer did not satisfy the player. Matheus Martins’ representatives submitted a counteroffer, which the club accepted on Tuesday (25). With personal terms agreed, the negotiations have advanced to their final stage. Medical examinations, the signing of the contract and the official announcement must still be completed before the transfer is confirmed.

Sale set to fall below the initial investment

Botafogo signed Matheus Martins from Udinese in July 2024 for €10 million. If the reported figures remain unchanged, his move to Dynamo Moscow will be completed for less than the initial investment. Since arriving, Matheus Martins has made 91 appearances for Botafogo, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists. The forward was also part of the squad that won the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian Championship in 2024. His departure reduces Botafogo’s options on the wings but brings in significant funds as the club reorganizes its finances. The deal will only be considered complete after the medical, signature and official announcement.
