Botafogo have moved the sale of Matheus Martins to Russia’s Dynamo Moscow forward. The reported deal is worth €7 million, around R$42.4 million at the exchange rate cited in the reports, and includes a four-year contract for the forward. The agreement still needs to be finalized and officially announced by the clubs, but the player may already have made his last appearance for the Alvinegro. There is an unavoidable geographic detail to this move: after Rio’s heat, Matheus Martins could swap his training kit for a much heavier coat in Moscow. The change, however, carries real weight for Botafogo’s finances and squad.

Sale below the initial investment

The forward joined from Udinese in July 2024 for €10 million. If the reported terms are confirmed, his sale to the Russian club will be completed for less than the original investment. Since arriving, Matheus Martins has played 89 matches for Botafogo, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists. He was also part of the squad that won the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian Championship in 2024.
